AGI Graduate School Summer Internship Programme 2017

Deadline: 24th February 2017

The Opportunity

The Tony Blair Africa Governance Initiative (AGI) seeks to achieve real and lasting improvements in the capability of partner governments to deliver social and economic development for their people. This work focuses on those areas where we can make a substantive and additive contribution above and beyond the support provided by international development organisations and NGOs – primarily institutional and operational capacity at the heart of government and developing the private sector.

AGI is now seeking applications for our Graduate Summer Internship.

We are looking for an exceptional individual who would work in our Africa-based teams. The particular role will be tailored to the candidates’ skills and project needs – but successful applicants can expect to lead on a specific and discrete piece of work for the duration of their internship, alongside our government partners in Rwanda and Ethiopia. The role in one of our Africa projects will be determined in collaboration with our partner governments, and because of this we are mainly interested in applicants who will be flexible around their final deployment.

Our Values

We work on complex issues in dynamic and uncertain contexts. When things are changing fast and we need to make decisions it is our values that guide us. We strive to be:

Government led
Because Africa’s future lies in the hands of Africa’s leaders and its people
Focused on impact
Because making government more effective improves the lives of the poorest people
Politically savvy
Because reform is always political and only knowing the technical answer is not enough
Because we are most effective when we are trusted enough to challenge as well as to support our partner governments
Because in unpredictable environments you need the courage and flexibility to take risks
We share a relentless belief in Africa’s potential. We believe that change is always possible and problems can be overcome
